The Class of ’80 Core Value Award for Selfless Service is the first university-wide award for one of the six core values of Texas A&M University. It is a $5,000 award given annually to a graduating senior that best exemplifies selfless service during their time at Texas A&M. The award is one of the most prestigious awards given by the university. The selection process is managed by the Launch committee and the actual selection is made by a committee of faculty, students and administrators using the criteria developed by the Class of ’80.
Thanks again to each of you that helped establish the first core value award at Texas A&M University. The Class of ’80 can truly be proud of giving back to Texas A&M to memorialize the core value of selfless service for generations of future students!

“To the Texas A&M University Class of ’80,
I want to express my sincere thanks and appreciation for selecting me as the recipient of the 2025 Class of ’80 Core Value Award for Selfless Service. It is an honor to receive this recognition alongside such amazing peers and to represent Texas A&M’s cherished core value of selfless service.
As a first-generation Aggie, the traditions and core values of Texas A&M settled in me aligning with the principles instilled by my family. Witnessing my peers and fellow Aggies consistently demonstrate service throughout their college journeys reinforced my belief that service is an integral part of education and a true measure of understanding.
For me, service has always involved two components: addressing and solving the problems I see in the world and mentoring and guiding my peers to empower them to do the same. It is this second part of service, mentorship, and community support, that sets Texas A&M apart from any other university. From my very first moments on campus during my freshman year, I was received so much willing and enthusiastic support from upperclassmen and the wider Aggie community, who guided me in navigating student entrepreneurship and creating lasting change. It is this sort of service, community, and commitment that I believe distinguishes Aggies. Every one of my fellow Aggies who guided me was in turn supported by other Aggies, passing down a culture of service that the Class of ’80 has done so much to build.
I am deeply thankful to the Class of ’80 for this award and for reinforcing the importance of service in our lives. As I enter medical school, I will strive to embody and advance the tradition of selfless service and to continuously pay forward the generosity that Texas A&M University, my fellow Aggies, and the Class of ’80 have provided me.
Thank you once again for this extraordinary honor.
With deepest gratitude.”
